Business Summary:
There is no other business like this one – it is totally unique, flexible, and provides an experience of a lifetime for all the passengers on board as well as the owner. The Seller has been doing these customized luxury tours since 1996 and is ready to retire. Each cruise is custom designed for the guests. The boat primarily travels from Juneau to Sitka Alaska and back again. The vessel is based in Bellingham Washington and it is a year-round home for the Seller. The luxury yacht is 96 foot long; the kitchen, lounge and dining share one grand room with a 270 degree panorama of nature. Each of the four cabins features private en-suite facilities. Two cabins have one queen and one twin bed; the other two cabins have two twin beds.In addition to the four guest cabins with en-suite heads there is an owner/captain's cabin with en-suite head as well as accommodations for two added crew. There is a private library and wine cellar (stocked with vintage wines from around the World). The cruises are designed to be for 7 days – the itinerary, which is flexible, is designed with the consultation and suggestions of the passengers, there are 3 gourmet meals per day, and all the vintage wine you can drink. The boat is equipped with two 15-foot Boston Whaler skiffs, each sporting a 75-horsepower, Evenrude E-tech outboard. They are rigged for fishing and crabbing, and handy for nature excursions. In addition, the yacht is equipped with three, 2-person sea kayaks. The typical 7 day trip includes watching whales, bears, eagles and other wildlife , Sea kayaking, nature hikes, hot springs, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, Gourmet cuisine, and fine vintage wines. The Seller use to do 14 -16 trips a season, from May to September; but has ratcheted back to only 12 trips a year. That is just 4 months a year to make an income in the six figures. By adding back the additional one month of trips that have been done in the past, the new owner could generate an additional $140,000 to $170,000 in income a year. In addition, the new owner could bring the vessel back down to the Puget Sound after finishing the Alaska season and do San Juan Island cruises and/or wine tours up and down the Columbia River. This is a gold mine for an aggressive and creative owner. Around 50% of the customers are referral or repeat each year, with the other 50% coming from this businesses very effective web site. The entire season of trips is generally booked 6 months in advance. The average trip is 6 to 8 people at $6K to $8K per person. The yacht is in tip top shape and is kept to the standard of a luxury vessel. The Seller will work with the new owner, showing them how to do the bookings, prepare the itinerary and services, create an ambiance that is unparalleled, maintain the vessel, and how to increase the business. He will stay on as a consultant to help with the bookings if the new owner desires. The new owner, or his captain, will need a minimum 150 ton Captains Ticket from the US Coast Guard as well as business license, liquor license and fishing guide license from the State of Alaska. In addition the business includes a Limited entry Halibut fishing license valued at more than $40k, an extensive inventory of spare parts and equipment, all fishing gear, linens, a Buick Roadmaster station wagon in Sitka and nearly two years of well aged wine valued at nearly $30k.The boat is for sale with the business for $700,000.
